Methods of TMJD and TMJ Treatment
The TMJ is the temporomandibular joint, which is the joint connecting the jaw bone to the skull on either side. Different levels of discomfort and pain, or damage to these joints will require one of the many types of TMJ treatment recommended by doctors. Sometimes something as simple as a yawn can cause the jaw to get stuck open and require manipulation of these joints in order to get it moving again, or subtle damage to the joint and its surrounding cartilage disc can often be treated with gentle exercises and possibly medication: When the problem is discovered early it is usually much easier to treat, than a situation where pain is ignored before seeking treatment. A dislocated jaw will of course require surgery to reset it and this problem can be caused by outside trauma to the TMJ; for instance by a fist or solid object striking the face, in a fight or accident.
